I was tasked with the creation of a scene featuring multiple characters based on the iconic MMORPG genre, such as Knights, Wizards, Warriors and Rogues. As a huge RPG fan, I was very excited to get started and creating these characters.
From initial sketches to final rendering, I handled every aspect of the project—concept design, 3D modeling, environments, texturing, rigging, animation, lighting, and rendering.
Below, you can explore some of the early concept work.

The Creative Process
With a tight deadline and a substantial workload, I opted for a clean, stylised art direction and simplified my workflow by keeping everything in Blender.
I started by designing each character individually before bringing them together to refine the composition and layout. Explore the carousel below to see the individual character 3D models.

With the characters approved, it was time to move on to the environment. The main challenge here was maintaining a consistent art style with the characters, while also ensuring the environment had enough visual interest and overall appeal.
Beyond the creative design itself, the final render needed to meet a very wide resolution specification. To accommodate this, I set up a camera in the viewport early in the process. This allowed me to establish the overall composition from the start and ensure it aligned with the required aspect ratio.

Throughout the entire environment, I leaned into bold, bright, and rounded shapes to stay true to the stylised aesthetic established by the characters. These forms not only reinforced the visual cohesion but also added a sense of playfulness and charm to the scene.
For the colour palette, I gravitated toward the blue, pink, and purple spectrum—it's a combination I'm especially fond of, as it evokes a dreamy, almost otherworldly atmosphere that fits perfectly with the fantasy tone I was aiming for.
To help guide the viewer’s focus, I made deliberate use of lighting, a shallow depth of field, and thoughtful composition. These elements worked together to draw the eye toward the central point of interest—the characters—ensuring they remained the heart of the piece amidst the vibrant surroundings.

The final project was well received, with the completed piece approved and delivered on schedule. One of the highlights was seeing it featured on the Taiwan Apple Store—an exciting moment that made all the effort feel especially rewarding.
Overall, this project was not only a lot of fun to work on but also a valuable learning experience. From refining my approach to stylised environments to balancing visual storytelling within a tight aspect ratio, it pushed me creatively and technically. I'm proud of how it came together and grateful for the opportunity to bring it to life.
