As a Freelance Web Developer based in Wales, I had the privilege of fully redesigning and rebuilding the official website for Blood Bikes Wales — a volunteer-run charity providing life-saving, free medical transport services across the country
Project Overview
The original website was outdated, difficult to navigate, and lacked the clarity needed to support their vital mission. I was brought in to lead a full-scale rebuild: a complete refresh that would modernise their online presence, improve usability, and help drive both volunteer sign-ups and public donations.
This project is a strong example of my work as a Freelance Web Developer in Cardiff, offering end-to-end design and development services tailored to non-profit and charity organisations.
Key Goals
The main objectives for the site rebuild were:
✅ Deliver a vastly improved user experience for both the public and internal staff
✅ Clearly communicate the volunteer roles and how to get involved
✅ Make donations more accessible and visible throughout the site
✅ Create a clean, responsive, and modern design that reflects the professionalism of the charity

Tools & Tech
The website was built on WordPress, using the Divi Theme Builder — a solution chosen to give the Blood Bikes Wales team full control over their content and media without relying on a developer for day-to-day updates. This allowed for a highly flexible and user-friendly backend, perfect for a team with limited technical experience.
Results & Impact Since the launch of the new site, Blood Bikes Wales has seen:
📈 Over 10,000 unique visitors between 2024–2025
💬 Consistently positive feedback from users around its accessibility and ease of use
🤝 Growth in volunteer interest and public donations
✅ A website that’s easier to maintain and more engaging across devices

This project not only showcases my ability to create high-performance, user-focused websites but also reinforces my position as a Freelance Web Developer in the UK who understands the real-world needs of charities, nonprofits, and small organisations.
Conclusion Designing the new Blood Bikes Wales website was a deeply rewarding experience — helping a critical charity amplify their mission through effective, accessible design and modern web development practices.
