I designed and developed the Fire & Ice Films website from the ground up, starting with a custom layout and visual style crafted in Figma. For the build, I used React and Next.js alongside Styled Components to create a fast, responsive, and visually engaging frontend — all hosted on Vercel for smooth deployment and performance.
Taking a JAM stack approach, I integrated Headless WordPress as the CMS and backend as this was my primary CMS at the time, pulling in content via GraphQL and WordPress’s REST API. This setup allows for dynamic content management while keeping the frontend lean, fast, and scalable.
See below for the full tech stack and tools I used on this project.
- Design: Figma
- Frontend: React, Next.js, Styled Components
- Backend/CMS: Headless WordPress
- API/Query Layer: GraphQL, WPGraphQL
- Plugins: Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), WPGraphQL for ACF
- SEO: Rank Math SEO, WPGraphQL for Rank Math
- Hosting: Vercel, (frontend), SiteGround Managed WordPress Hosting (backend)
- Version Control: GitHub
Next.js front-end websites are exceptionally fast and make it easy to achieve top-tier performance metrics. As demonstrated in the Google Lighthouse report below, the site's performance and SEO score is already very high. With a bit more refinement, we'll also be able to push the best practices and accessibility scores to their maximum potential.
